Abstract
Indonesia's location at the equator allows it to be exposed to high intensity sunlight. One way to increase skin protection against the harmful effects of the sun is to use sunscreen. Kenitu leaf (Chrysophyllum cainito L.) is a plant that has the potential as an antioxidant. Compounds suspected of acting as antioxidants are flavonoids. Flavonoids have the ability to convert or reduce free radicals and also act as antioxidants. The purpose of this study was to determine the physical properties of sunscreen cream preparations. Kenitu Leaf (Chrysophyllum cainito L.) and to determine sunscreen activity from the preparation of Kenitu Leaf Extract Cream (Chrysophyllum cainito .L). The methodology of this research is purely experimental in the
laboratory. Technical test of antioxidant activity of kenitu leaf extract (Chrysophyllum cainito L.) using the DPPH method. With a post test only control group design. This research was carried out by statistical tests using Kruskal-Wallis. Antioxidant activity test of kenitu leaf extract and kenitu leaf extract cream (40 ppm, 80 ppm, 120 ppm and 160 ppm) had an IC50 value greater than that of kenitu leaf extract. Meanwhile, formulation 3 was higher than formulations 1 and 2. The results of the data on the area of erythema that appeared on the skin of the mice were processed using imageJ and then tested for antioxidant activity of kenitu leaf extract cream on sunscreen protection and analyzed using the SPSS Kruskal-Wallis test. The test results showed that the results of the 1st day showed a significant 0.000 <0.05, the 3rd day showed a
significant 0.004 <0.05, which means that there was a significant or significant difference in each group. While the second day shows that it is not significant 0.147 > 0.05.
